Which content type are you avoiding?

Hey Reader

I'm two weeks on from the Creator Live event and I'm still thinking about one thing.

Not the 110k views I got from one post. Not the people I met or the amazing talks or the London air. Just this: three types of content. That's all there is.

I heard it on the day and it stuck. I'm also coming to the end of a course I'm in with the Creator Live team, and I've been out with Benny every morning listening on my headphones, taking mental notes. This morning something clicked.

Most of us are asking the wrong question when we think about creating social media content. We sit down to post and think: what should I say today?

When what we should be asking is: which part of me have I been leaving out?

Three types of content.

Only three.

And the ones you've been avoiding?

They're the ones your audience is waiting for.

I know, because that's been me.

Here's how to change all that 👇

the only 3 types of content that count

You don't need a content calendar with fifteen categories. You need to know which of these three you've been posting too much of, and which one you've been hiding.

1. Skills 🛠️

What you know. What you've been paid for. The thing someone texts you about on a Monday morning because you're the person who knows exactly what to do. This is the content that positions you. It builds trust slowly and steadily. It's the reason people save your post and come back.

Try this: write down three things you know so well they feel boring to you. Those are the skills your audience is most hungry for. Expertise feels ordinary from the inside.

2. Stories 🎤️

What you've lived through. The chapter you're in right now. Not any of the polished wisdom. The real stuff: what happened, what fell apart, what you made of it, what it cost, what you learned. Stories are what turn a follower into someone who trusts you. These stories come from deep within. Your knowing.

Try this: think of the last thing that surprised you, frustrated you, or shifted something. That's a story. It doesn't need to resolve neatly, it just visualises a belief you are sharing. An example of what good, bad, or indifferent might look like, so people can relate.

3. Sparks 🔥

What lights you up. The thing you can't stop talking about. Your passions. The book you've shared with six people this year. The random obsession you've had since you were twelve. What your yoga practice looks like. This is the content that makes you irreplaceable, because nobody else has your exact combination.

Try this: what have you been recommending to people lately? Not professionally. Just in conversation. That's a spark.

Most of us are heavy on skills and light on sparks. The practical stuff feels safe. The sparks feel indulgent. But they're the bit that makes YOU impossible to copy.

2 things i'm loving

✦ Joy Experiments — we're on day 9

Nine days into July. Nine pages. One collage a day: a sketchbook, a glue stick, a pile of torn-out images, fifteen minutes. No outcome, no audience, no brief. Just making something because it's Wednesday morning and the glue is out.

If you want to join for the rest of the month, it's not too late.

Come and make things with us

✦ Wispr Flow: get a month free on me

If you've ever lost a good idea because by the time you got to your keyboard it had evaporated, Wispr Flow is the fix. It transcribes your voice directly into whatever you're working in. I use it for emails, drafts, voice notes that actually go somewhere. A month free on me, no strings.

1 affirmation

Remember, you're here to make an impact in the world with your unique gifts. And, you are the niche. Not your job title. Not the sector you work in. The full combination of everything you've learned, lived, and loved. There's no algorithm for that. No competitor can copy it. So, start posting like you believe that.

That's your 3-2-1 for this week. See you next Thursday!

With love & creativity
