🤫 Shhh.... be quiet

Hey, Reader!

You know those ideas that start as a whisper—soft enough to ignore while you juggle deadlines, dishes, and downward dogs?

Well... my affirmation card deck was that idea.

If you remember, this project has been brewing for a while—until the US tariffs hit. My print-on-demand partner sent an email saying costs would rise by 68% overnight (then dropped it to 28% a few days later). That uncertainty made me shelve the idea... for a little while.

But whispers have a way of turning into shouts. For the last few weeks, the deck’s voice got loud: Finish me. Share me. Let people hold their own words of power.

So I blocked out chunks of creative time, brewed ridiculously strong coffee, and finished the final designs. Today, my test run is queued, and a free digital teaser pack is ready for you.

Consider this your invitation to grab my free mini-set—or scoop the tangibles the minute they land in my Etsy shop.

Because sometimes the things we keep on the back burner are actually the fuel that lights up everything else.

So, this week, I’m diving into the science and evidence that words can shape our worlds.

Let’s get into it. ⤵️

3 ways affirmations work

1️⃣ They light up your brain’s reward center
Functional-MRI studies from Carnegie Mellon and Penn show that repeating personally meaningful statements sparks the ventral striatum—the same neural circuitry that fires when you hear your favourite song or nail that yoga inversion.

2️⃣ They tame your stress chemistry
In lab experiments, people who affirmed core values before a stressful task produced significantly less cortisol (the “uh-oh” hormone) than those who didn’t. Translation: calmer nerves, clearer decisions.

3️⃣ They sharpen problem-solving under pressure
Another study found that a brief self-affirmation exercise helped participants solve more puzzles after being rattled by time constraints—proof that positive self-talk can keep your creative cortex aligned when the stakes rise.

(Feel free to screenshot this trio for your skepticism-prone friends. 😘)
