A few weeks ago, I said yes to a new client, a forward-thinking brand bringing me in to lead user research and design for an upcoming campaign. Translation: a to-do list a mile long. 😅 I used to power through my to-dos and call it productivity. This time, I'm running a different approach: schedule life first, fit business into the cracks. I'm planning more space in my mornings for wellbeing, before I read any email. I'm taking more micro-breaks between tasks. I'm staying hydrated. I've revisited past newsletters, pulled what actually works, and asked a few smart friends. The result? Five simple shifts that have helped me move the big things and still have energy for, you know, enjoying life... Here’s what I’m using right now... and you can, too. ⤵️ 5 ways to work with ease (and keep your nervous system happy)1. Start the day on your terms Don’t check your phone first thing in the morning. I know this one is hard, but try no phone for the first 30–60 minutes. Checking your phone makes you react. Set your own tone of calm and clarity to start your day (tea, meditation, journaling or, a short walk). 2. Set clear priorities for your day. Try the 3-3-3 Method:
3. Single-task like a pro Multitasking is a myth that drains your brain. One tab, one task, 25–50 minutes. Then a 5-minute reset (stretch, water, daylight). 4. Eat the frog (I love this phrase.) Do the hardest, needle-moving task first. Morning momentum makes everything else lighter. 5. Transition & shutdown Add a 20-minute transition block daily for spillover and a 10-minute shutdown ritual (plan tomorrow, do some breath work exercises, try restorative yoga).
