Hey Reader On Wednesday night I sat on a panel at Lloyds Banking Group in London. The Female Product Lead and UX Crunch put it on, and the question on the flyer was a big one: is AI pushing more women and underrepresented groups out of tech faster? My friend, Meg, had messaged me just a few days before to ask me to speak on the panel. I was scared shitless. And I said yes. I shared the stage with 3 other speakers and a moderator. We each brought a different perspective with us. Mine was women over 50, who feel less worried about AI taking their jobs. What I hear from the women I work with is a quieter question: am I already invisible? So I couldn't very well stand up for being seen and then hide at the back of the room. I was scared and I did it anyway. Because visibility doesn't wait until you feel ready. And the good news is it doesn't need a highlight reel either. Here's what's working right now 👇 3 ways to be more visibleAll three came up in my research this week, and all three are kinder to women like us than the algorithm usually is. 1. One real photo, one real thoughtA single strong image with a genuine story or opinion underneath is starting to outperform the carousel. Less swiping, more feeling. One photo from Wednesday with the true story in the caption will do more for me than ten polished slides. → Try this: swap one planned carousel this week for a single photo and a few honest lines about what actually happened. 2. Share the flop"My recent flops" posts are quietly building more trust than highlight reels. People want to see the bit where it didn't work, and what you learned. It's the most human thing you can post, and it gives everyone else permission to be human too. → Try this: draft one post about a recent mistake or a missed goal, and the lesson it left you with. Keep it small. Small is honest. 3. Hit record onceRaw, single-take video is outperforming the polished stuff right now, as platforms get better at spotting AI-made content. The wobbly, slightly imperfect clip that's clearly you is the one people stop for. It's also the one most of us put off longest, because it means being seen. Properly seen. → Try this: record one unscripted video this week. One take, no retakes, no script. Say one thing you believe about your work. Post it, then compare how it does against your polished posts. One photo, one flop, one take. None of them need you to feel ready first. Just do it messy. 2 things i'm loving✦ Caroline Clark's LiftoffCaroline was on the panel with me, a former Product Director who now coaches women through career-defining transitions. Her writing is all about how our beliefs quietly run the show. Worth a read. → Read Liftoff ✦ The Female Product LeadThe community behind Wednesday night, running a whole series on AI through the lens of inclusive product leadership. There's over 800 women globally in their community. Honest rooms, good questions, and pizza. → Join FPL 1 affirmationFor the woman who's waiting to feel ready. I am embracing visibility & sharing my voice with confidence. Ready is a feeling that turns up afterwards. You plant the seed first. The confidence grows from doing it. What have you been too scared to say yes to? Hit reply and tell me. I read every one. That's your 3-2-1 for this week. See you next Thursday! With love & creativity xo, Louise 🫶 P.S. The room I talked about on Wednesday is exactly who Brand & Bloom is for. Experienced women, building systems so AI works for them.
